Emergency services were called to assist with the rescue of a man at the Geelong waterfront just after 8:10 pm.
Reports indicate that the man, believed to be 40 years old, fell into the water after losing control of his skateboard around 7:55 pm.
Witnesses told Geelong TV that the man was speeding downhill on his skateboard near the Wharf Shed and failed to slow down.
“You could just see him flying down,” one woman said.
“He hit the pier and went straight into the water.”
Bystanders were stunned by the incident.
Rescue crews worked for approximately 15 minutes to free the man’s foot, which was trapped under rocks.
He was safely rescued and transported to Geelong Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
