Fire crews and police were called to a burn-off that got out of control on Steiglitz Road in Moorabool at around 8:09 PM.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fully engulfed rubbish pile measuring approximately 60 by 60 meters, along with a shipping container that had been impacted.
The out-of-control grass fire has burned through two acres, with flames reaching up to one meter in height.
Authorities are asking members of the public to avoid the area if possible.
Police have been notified, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
