A man and a woman were arrested yesterday afternoon at a residence in Corio and later interviewed by police.
A 28-year-old Corio woman has been charged with multiple offences, including aggravated home invasion (firearm), armed robbery, two counts of common law assault, and committing a Schedule 1 offence while on bail.
She was remanded in custody overnight and is scheduled to appear in Geelong Magistrates’ Court today.
A 28-year-old Geelong North man faces similar charges, including aggravated home invasion (firearm), possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, two counts of common law assault, and committing a Schedule 1 offence while on bail.
He is due to appear in Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 8 April.
In addition, a 27-year-old Lovely Banks man was arrested on 2 January and charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. A 52-year-old Corio man was charged on 3 January with aggravated home invasion (firearm), armed robbery, and two counts of common law assault.
Both men have been remanded to appear in Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 8 April.
The charges stem from an incident reported on Thursday, 2 January, at a Cox Road property in Lovely Banks.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 9:30 am following reports of a home invasion.
Police allege several individuals entered the home armed with a homemade firearm and assaulted the two occupants—a 23-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman—who sustained minor injuries.
It is also alleged that a shot was fired into the ceiling during the incident.
Investigators believe the parties involved were known to each other.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
