Torquay authorities are currently conducting an investigation into an assault incident that took place at the Torquay Surf Life Saving Club, where two Victoria Police members were assaulted.

The incident occurred on July 3, 2023, at approximately 5:50 PM when the police responded to a distress call made to the emergency services (000).

The call reported a male individual under the influence of a volatile substance who was endangering bystanders with his aggressive behavior.

Upon arrival at the scene, the assailant launched an assault on the frontline responders, causing them harm.

However, the courageous emergency workers were able to eventually subdue the perpetrator and place him under arrest.

The individual in question, a 19-year-old man from Bulleen, has been charged with multiple offenses, including Assault on an Emergency Worker and resisting arrest.

He is scheduled to appear at the Geelong Magistrates Court later this year to face these charges.

In connection with this incident, detectives at the Torquay Police Station are seeking the assistance of the public.

They are specifically interested in speaking with two male individuals who were present at the scene during the assault.

These two individuals, identified as surfers, are believed to have witnessed the incident and may possess vital information that could aid the investigation.
