A man has been charged by the police in connection with an alleged armed robbery at a Mount Clear supermarket on Wednesday.

According to reports, the individual visited a supermarket on Geelong Road around 8 pm, attempting to pilfer various items.

A confrontation with a staff member ensued, during which the man purportedly brandished a weapon before escaping the premises with the suspected stolen goods. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Allegedly, he tried to steal a boat motor from the establishment but left without any loot.
