Last night at approximately 11:30 pm, emergency services responded to an incident on Ryrie Street, in East Geelong where a van collided with a power pole.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, a male driver in his 30s, sustained severe injuries and was briefly trapped inside the wreckage.
After being extricated from the vehicle, he was promptly transported to the Alfred Hospital in serious condition, with injuries to his lower body.
Initial findings suggest that the van may have been stolen, and investigators are actively pursuing leads in an ongoing inquiry into the incident.
