At 11:13 p.m., Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a reported factory fire near the intersection of Tucker Street and Currier Street in Breakwater, after a caller alerted Triple Zero (000).
Firefighters from the Country Fire Authority (CFA) also attended the scene.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a 30m x 10m brick and steel factory, including its chimney, fully engulfed in flames.
Due to concerns over the building’s structural stability, firefighters initiated aerial and external attack strategies.
Crews worked to suppress the fire while also conducting salvage and overhaul operations.
Searches were performed, but no occupants were found inside.
The fire was brought under control at 12:31 a.m.
A community warning was issued regarding smoke in the area.
Victoria Police blocked off Breakwater Road and Tucker Road, and Ambulance Victoria was on-site providing health monitoring for firefighters.
The power company also responded to the scene.
FRV will investigate the cause of the fire.
