Police are conducting a search today in the Shelford area as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Bannockburn woman Lorrin Whitehead, who vanished in February 2013.
Detectives from the Moorabool Crime Investigation Unit (CIU), supported by SES members, are combing a bushland area based on intelligence suggesting that Lorrin’s remains may be located there.
Lorrin was last seen leaving her home at 4:40 pm on Friday, 8 February 2013.
She was captured on CCTV just after 4:50 pm at a local Bannockburn supermarket purchasing a bottle of water, a card, and a pen.
A witness reported seeing Lorrin enter the driver’s seat of a red 4WD in Bannockburn’s CBD around the same time.
Another witness later saw a red 4WD parked on the nature strip of Lorrin’s property during the weekend of her disappearance.
Lorrin did not own a red 4WD at the time.
Her disappearance is described as out of character. Her bank accounts have remained untouched, and her work phone was discovered at her home, further raising concerns.
Additionally, Lorrin, who has a medical condition, is believed to have left without her necessary medication.
Detectives from Moorabool CIU have been actively investigating Lorrin’s case, speaking to numerous individuals connected to her and exploring all leads.
Today, police are re-releasing images of Lorrin, including an updated digital image showing how she may look today, in hopes of prompting new information.
Lorrin is described as 170 cm tall with a medium build, brown eyes, and brown hair.
She was last seen wearing black pants and a light-colored collared shirt.
Authorities urge anyone with information about Lorrin’s disappearance to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
