Emergency services were called to a business on Mackey Street in North Geelong around 10:15 AM this morning after a suspicious package was reported.

Two female protesters arrived at the premises around 9:40 AM, dropped a mysterious box at the reception while chanting and filming their actions.

The protesters were forcibly removed by staff, and police were immediately notified about the potentially dangerous package.

However, the offenders had already fled the scene by the time officers arrived.

Fire Rescue Victoria’s hazardous materials team, along with the bomb squad, rushed to the location to assess the situation.

A police spokesperson later confirmed that the package contained no hazardous materials.

Detectives from Geelong Crime Investigation Unit arrested a 52-year-old Grovedale woman and a 61-year-old Geelong West woman as part of the investigation into the incident.

Both women were subsequently charged with intend bomb hoax and trespass.

They have been bailed to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 22 April 2025.
