Emergency services, including the police and SES, were called to Bonnyvale Rd just past 6:26 pm in response to a triple 000 call reporting missing individuals in the ocean.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that four individuals had encountered difficulties while out at sea.
Among them were a 35-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 13-year-old girl, all of whom were transported to Geelong Hospital in stable condition.
To rescue a 12-year-old girl, a police helicopter was dispatched, and she was winched to safety.
Additionally, an air ambulance was initially requested to provide assistance but was subsequently canceled when it was discovered that the 12-year-old girl had tragically passed away at the scene.
A police spokesperson has stated, “Police will compile a report for the Coroner in relation to the female’s death, which is believed to be non-suspicious.”
