Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic residential fire that took place in Newtown earlier today.
At approximately 2am, Emergency Services responded to a distress call reporting the fire at a residence on Upper Skene Street.
Regrettably, a woman was discovered deceased within the premises.
To aid in the investigation, a crime scene has been set up, and detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad, accompanied by an arson chemist, will be present at the location this morning.
