Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are currently at the site of a serious incident in Geelong’s CBD, where a woman sustained critical injuries in a collision today.

Emergency services responded to a two-car and small truck collision at the junction of Eastern Beach Road and Bellarine Street around 11 am.

A female passenger, believed to be in her 80s and traveling in one of the cars, had to be extricated from the vehicle before being transported to the hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries.

The male driver of the same car also sustained injuries and has been conveyed to the hospital for medical attention.

Fortunately, the drivers of the other car and the small truck involved in the collision escaped without injuries.

In response to reports suggesting that one of the vehicles may have run a red light just before the incident, the police have sealed off the area.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are meticulously processing the scene and probing the circumstances surrounding the collision.
