Police and FRV responded to an incident on the corner Russell St and Urana St in Newtown just after 8:00 pm.

Witnesses informed Geelong TV that they observed a male fleeing from the police, who subsequently climbed onto a rooftop, leading to a standoff.

FRV was called to assist in safely bringing the individual down from the roof.

Later, police media reported that the incident was a result of a welfare check, and it was linked to mental health concerns.
